The Fulton County Police Department is one of only a handful of police departments to be nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA). The Fulton County Public Safety Training Center is one of the most advanced training centers in existence today.
As a Fulton County Police Officer, you will receive State mandated training through the Regional Law Enforcement Academy, and 12 weeks of Field Training with a highly trained and experienced Fulton County Police Field Training Officer.

SALARY
The current salary range for Police Officer I is $32,646 to $50,261. The minimum starting salary is $32,646 with two years of college which is equivalent to 60 semester or 90 quarter hours. You may also have four years of prior law enforcement experience in place of the two years of College. The starting salary range with four years of college or eight years of prior law enforcement experience is 38,000.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

AGE : Must be at least twenty (20) years of age. No maximum age cutoff.

EDUCATION : Have a High School Diploma or its recognized equivalent (G. E. D.). Possess a total of two (2) years of college from an accredited college or university. (Minimum 60 Semester hours or 90 Quarter hours). Or two (2) years as a Police Officer with a Public Law Enforcement Agency may be substituted for each one (1) year of education lacked.

VISION : Visual acuity of at least 20/70 is required in each eye separately, correctable to 20/20 or better with no color vision deficiencies.

WEIGHT : Must be proportional to height according to chart of “Special Physical Standards for Pre-employment Physical Examinations for Law Enforcement/Peace Officer/Firefighter and Related Classes”.

DRIVER'S LICENSE : Must possess a valid Georgia Driver's License at time of appointment.

CRIMINAL ACTIVITY : Have no felony conviction or multiple misdemeanor convictions.

EXAMINATION :There is a POST (Police Officer Standards and Training) entrance examination that is required. There will also be an evaluation of education, training, and experience. This evaluation will be accomplished by investigation and/ or analysis of application.
In addition, potential applicants will be required to pass:
1. Physical Agility Test
2. A Medical Examination
3. A Psychological Interview Exam
4. A Polygraph Exam
5. A Background Investigation to include, but not limited to:
- Criminal History Record Check
- Driver History Check
- Financial/Credit Check
- Court check for Criminal and Civil Law Suits
- Previous employment check
- Neighborhood Check
- Character and Social Acquaintance Check
- Verification of information supplied by applicant
